About

I am a twenty-something German girl. I got my Master’s Degree in the summer of 2009 and am now exploring real life in the real world besides working on my PhD in human resource development.  The name of my blog lettersNlettuce is an homage to my American family. My American dad always made fun of me when I was talking about “letters in the fridge” since he could not distinguish my pronunciation of “letters” and “lettuce”, when I spent a year with them in 2000/01.  To put it in a nutshell lettersNlettuce sums up what I am interested in and what my blog is about. It is about “letters” – art, keeping in touch (and trying not to forget my English…), crafting and “lettuce” – cooking, living healthy, sports, especially running.

Hi Anne! Nice to meet another German girl! :D Blogging so much helps with keeping English skills alive (and yours are awesome)! I also love the other things you’re interested in, just running is still something I haven’t completely gotten into, but still not given up yet. ;)

Welcome. I just saw that you are blogging in English, too! Would you mind to share why?

I’ve been reading English blogs for a while … The English blog sphere is so much larger and more international. I love to learn more about how people in differents parts of the world are living their lives. Also, I’m interested in health and food blogging, and much of that hasn’t arrived in Germany yet, I feel. I’d never have known there was something like almond milk (I love almond milk!) if I hadn’t found it on an English health website. Writing in English is also a great training because I’d love to get into research later, and publications are usually written in English.
